Citadelle Gin
About Citadelle Gin
Citadelle Gin is a premium gin crafted in Cognac, France, using a unique combination of 19 botanicals sourced from around the world. Its name comes from the historic Citadelle of Dunkirk, a fortress that played a crucial role in the history of gin.
Tasting Notes
Citadelle Gin is a smooth and complex gin with a delicate balance of juniper, citrus, and spice. On the nose, it has a floral and citrusy aroma with a hint of peppery spice. The palate is smooth and creamy, with notes of juniper, coriander, and citrus, followed by a warm and spicy finish.
Cocktail Recommendation
Try the classic Citadelle Martini for a sophisticated and timeless cocktail. Combine 2.5 oz Citadelle Gin and 0.5 oz dry vermouth in a shaker with ice. Stir until chilled, then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist and enjoy.
Recommended by Robert Sickler, creator of the Winter Sun as a recommended spirit to pair with Shaker & Spoon’s Jolly for Gin Punch Box.
Robert recommends Citadelle Gin for its clean, fresh botanicals (a whopping 19 of them!) and its healthy balance between citrus and juniper. As Robert says, “Citadelle offers up an elegant complexity and character when building a cocktail.”
Production Details
Citadelle Gin is made using a traditional copper pot still that is more than 100 years old. It is distilled in small batches and undergoes a total of five distillations to create a smooth and refined spirit. The 19 botanicals are steeped in the spirit for 72 hours to extract their flavors and aromas, and then distilled in small batches to create the final blend.
Whether you’re a seasoned gin aficionado or just starting to explore the world of craft spirits, Citadelle Gin is a must-try. Its unique blend of botanicals and traditional production methods create a smooth and complex gin that is perfect for sipping neat or mixing in your favorite cocktails.
